Job summary

Dornan Engineering Group, based in Cork, seeks a Senior Piping Engineer to lead piping stress analysis and delivery from design through on-site installation across Europe and the UK. You will develop stress models, supports and nozzle loads, working with other disciplines to optimise routing and interfaces.

With 10+ years in piping, you will review specifications, mentor junior engineers, and ensure safety, quality and timely delivery on projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' piping engineering and stress analysis experience.
• Proficient in Caesar II or equivalent piping analysis software.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Commercial awareness with focus on safety, quality and delivery.
• Ability to take ownership, prioritise workload and provide technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Support projects from design through to on-site installation.
• Perform piping stress and flexibility analysis.
• Develop piping stress models, supports and nozzle loads assessment.
• Collaborate with designers to optimise routing and interfaces.
• Develop/review piping specs, calculations and docs.
• Liaise with vendors and subcontractors.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and practical design solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Ensure work meets project, quality and safety standards.

Senior Piping Engineer

Dornan Engineering Group is aleading international engineering contractor delivering high-value projects across Europe, UK & Ireland. Based in our Cork Head Office, this is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Engineering Team as a Senior Piping Engineer,supporting the delivery of our projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Your day will include:

• Supporting projects from design through to on-site installation.
• Performing piping stress and flexibility analysis using Caesar II or equivalent.
• Developing piping stress models, pipe supports and restraints, and assessing equipment nozzle loads.
• Working closely with designers and engineering disciplines to optimise pipe routing, supports and interfaces.
• Developing/reviewing piping specifications, calculations and technical documentation.
• Liaising with vendors, subcontractors and specialist designers.
• Identifying value engineering opportunities and providing practical design solutions.
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and support to junior engineers.
• Ensuring work meets project, quality, safety and engineering standards.

About You

• Degree-qualified engineer or equivalent, with 10+ years' relevant experience.
• Strong piping engineering and pipe stress analysis experience.
• Proficient in Caesar II or equivalent piping analysis software.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.1/B31.3; EN 13480 desirable.
• Experience with pipe support design and equipment nozzle load assessment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Commercially aware with a strong focus on safety, quality and delivery.
• Able to take ownership, prioritise workload and provide technical leadership.
