Qualifications

  • Registered with CORU and evidence of continued education.
  • Minimum three years post-graduate experience as a physiotherapist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist physiotherapy assessments for children.
  • Develop and evaluate treatment programmes.
  • Support complex decision-making in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Provide guidance on postural management, equipment provision (standing frames, mobility aids), and orthotics.
  • Offer training and advice to families, carers and professionals to promote continuity of care.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior physiotherapists, assistants and students.
  • Contribute to service development, audits and quality improvement.
  • Act as clinical lead in multidisciplinary meetings and case conferences.
  • Support the team with complex decision-making and problem-solving.

Job description

Senior Physiotherapist

Medforce are proud to be working with a disability unit in Tipperary that will provide high-quality physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and management to children and young people with complex disabilities. The Senior Physiotherapist will play a key role in delivering specialist interventions, supporting families and carers, and working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to optimise children’s function, independence, and quality of life.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist physiotherapy assessments for children with complex physical and developmental needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised treatment programmes.
  • Use evidence-based practice to deliver physiotherapy interventions that maximise mobility, motor skills, and functional independence.
  • Provide guidance and support for postural management, equipment provision (e.g., standing frames, mobility aids), and orthotics.
  • Offer training and advice to families, carers, and education/health professionals to promote continuity of care.
  • Contribute to risk assessments, safeguarding processes, and safe manual handling practices.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior physiotherapists, assistants, and students.
  • Contribute to service development, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a clinical lead in multi-disciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and review sessions.
  • Support the team with complex decision-making and advanced problem-solving.
  • Work in partnership with occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, paediatricians, nurses, psychologists, and education staff.
  • Liaise with families, schools, and community services to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
  • Advocate for children’s rights and promote inclusion in education and community life.
Requirements
  • Degree in Physiotherapy (BSc or equivalent).
  • Registered with CORU.
  • Evidence of post-graduate training in paediatrics or relevant specialist areas (desirable).
  • Minimum three years post-graduate experience as a physiotherapist.
