Job summary

September Consulting Ltd in Dublin is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to manage enterprise networking across hybrid environments. The role covers global collaboration with architects, engineers, and support teams, focusing on automation, security, and network optimization.

You will work with Cisco-centric stacks, Meraki, Nexus, and Palo Alto firewalls, plus cloud networking (Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI) and SD-WAN, driving improvements and best practices in a large-scale global network estate.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in enterprise networking.
• Strong proficiency with Cisco as the primary stack, with Meraki and Nexus exposure.
• Hands-on with Palo Alto firewalls (Panorama-managed preferred).
• Load balancers experience (F5 BigIP or similar).
• Experience with SD-WAN (e.g., VMware Velocloud) and cloud networking (Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI).
• Automation and scripting (Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, JFrog).
• Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Cacti, MRTG).
• Excellent troubleshooting and packet capture (Wireshark).
• Typically 10–15 years in networking.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance: device patching, upgrades, tech refreshes.
• Monitor WAN, LAN, and cloud networks to detect issues early.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code to automate network operations.
• Build cloud network topologies using automation tools and templates.
• Provide senior escalation support for complex network issues.
• Contribute to standards, processes, and documentation.
• Support on-call rotation and capacity planning.
• Stay informed on new technologies and propose improvements.

We’re partnering with a global technology organisation to hire a senior-levelNetwork Engineerwith deep experience across enterprise networking, cloud networking, and SD-WAN. You’ll join a high-performing global Infrastructure team and work closely with architects, engineering groups, sysadmins, and application support teams across multiple regions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to work on complex environments, elevate automation capabilities, and influence best practices across a global network estate.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Perform routine maintenance including device patching, upgrades, and tech refreshes.
• Support global internal stakeholders with a high level of service.
• Monitor WAN, LAN, and cloud networks to detect and resolve issues early.
• Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and streamlined processes.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex network issues.
• Contribute to standards, processes, policies, and configuration documentation.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code practices to automate network operations.
• Build and maintain cloud network topologies using automation tools (CloudFormation, ARM templates, pipelines, etc.).
• Engage with SD-WAN environments and help enhance capabilities.
• Support L2/L3 network infrastructure and assist with capacity planning.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and help maintain the calendar.
• Stay informed on new technologies and recommend improvements where beneficial.

What You Bring

Must-Have Experience:

• Senior-level experience in enterprise networking.
• Strong proficiency with Cisco as the primary stack, with experience or exposure toMeraki and Nexushighly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls(preferably Panorama-managed).
• Load balancer experience(F5 BigIP or similar).
• Experience collaborating closely withnetwork and security teams.
• SD-WAN experience (e.g., VMware Velocloud).
• Solid understanding of cloud networking acrossAzure, AWS, GCP, or OCI.
• Automation and scripting experience (Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, JFrog, etc.).
• Experience with network monitoring (SolarWinds, Cacti, MRTG, etc.).
• Excellent troubleshooting capability, including packet capture analysis (Wireshark, NetFlow).
• Typically10–15 years+experience in networking.
