Job summary

The Commissioners of Irish Lights in Ireland seek a senior Navigation Planning and Policy Manager to lead engagement on navigation safety policy and regulation. You will work with national and international stakeholders to assess projects and advise on maritime safety strategy within the Navigation, Maritime and Consenting Department.

You will bring a Master Mariner or naval equivalent, with command experience or an advanced degree, and you will collaborate with technical teams, R&D, and service

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of maritime safety systems, standards and international developments across user classes.
  • Technical competency in relation to navigation, including radio navigation and ship/shore systems.
  • Ability to communicate and engage with a diverse range of users and international colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership on stakeholder engagement at national and international level and input to regulatory processes.
  • Manage internal processes for Navigation Safety and Aids to Navigation.
  • Represent Irish Lights at IALA, GLA committees, UK Safety of Navigation Committee, and other groups.
  • Contribute to assessment and development of future safety of navigation services.
  • Input to strategy development within Irish Lights and the General Lighthouse Authorities.
