Job summary

Stryker Corporation in Cork is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design, support, and improve the SafeAir Smoke Evacuation Pencil. You will define requirements, refine specs, and drive improvements for usability, safety, and manufacturability throughout the lifecycle.

This role requires independent problem solving in a regulated medical device environment, collaboration with Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and suppliers, and a minimum of 2 years' experience in medical device

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong medical device engineering experience (design or sustaining) with electro‑mechanical products.
• Deep understanding of design control, change management, and regulated product development (ISO 13485 / FDA).
• Proven problem solving with data‑driven decisions and root cause analysis.
• Experience with validation/verification and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own technical sustainment of the SafeAir Pencil across the product lifecycle.
• Lead root cause investigations for customer complaints and manufacturing challenges.
• Drive design changes to improve usability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Coordinate validation strategies and supplier interactions to ensure fit-for-use.
• Provide technical leadership within cross‑functional teams and mentor peers.
• Support CAPA activities and risk management with structured problem solving.
