Job summary

Designer Group, a leading international mechanical and electrical engineering contractor, seeks a Senior Mechanical Estimation Manager to lead the planning and delivery of mechanical tenders across Ireland and Europe. You will allocate workload, establish tender strategies and maintain estimating standards while supervising a team of estimators.

Qualifications

• Substantial estimating or pre-construction experience in mechanical building services or MEP contracting.
• Experience leading or mentoring an estimating team and managing competing deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, controls) and related interfaces.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Proficiency in cost build-up, labour/productivity assessment and risk review.
• Advanced Excel and relevant estimating tools; Trimble software desirable.
• Credible communication with clients, consultants, suppliers and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical estimating team, set priorities and establish quality standards.
• Oversee tender programmes, reviews, and governance from opportunity to handover.
• Coordinate bids with procurement, engineering and operations for consistency.
• Develop value engineering and cost optimisation across tenders.
• Ensure tender records, estimates and reports are complete and version-controlled.
• Report tender status, risks and key decisions to leadership.
