Job summary

EDC - Engineering Design Consultants in Ireland seeks an Associate Director to lead mechanical design across projects, ensuring robust technical delivery and profitability. You will mentor teams, manage resources, and coordinate with BIM teams while maintaining strong client relationships.

The role requires 6+ years in Building Services consultancy, plus strong leadership and BIM knowledge, with a focus on Water, Heating, HVAC, and BMS systems.

Qualifications

• Degree level in Mechanical Engineering with project management; Master’s qualification desirable.
• 6+ years Building Services Consultancy Design experience.
• 3+ years Team Management experience.
• Proven experience delivering detailed designs through full design cycle.
• Expert knowledge in Water Services, Heating/LTHW, HVAC, Fuel, A/G Drainage and BMS.
• Experience in BIM, Energy Assessments and Modelling software advantageous.
• Commercial savviness essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee delivery of Mechanical Engineering design from feasibility through to construction.
• Ensure high-quality, technically robust project delivery, independently or in teams.
• Act as Project Leader, meet client brief, programme, and budget.
• Ensure profitable project delivery in line with commercial and contractual requirements.
• Mentor and develop engineers across levels; support team growth.
• Oversee resourcing, workload planning, and cross-department coordination.
• Lead liaison with BIM and modelling teams for M&E drawing delivery.
• Maintain strong client relationships; represent EDC at meetings and site visits.
• Support business development through bids and client engagement.
