Lawler Consulting seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer (Intermediate/Senior) to join our Kilkenny team, delivering design for HVAC, plumbing, and building services across sectors.

The role involves leading design from development to delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating with clients and project teams while maintaining ISO‑compliant documentation. Kilkenny head office with hybrid working options after initial 6 months.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 7 degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
• 5+ years’ design experience in an engineering consultancy preferred.
• Proven ability to lead design in accordance with regulations and standards.
• Client-facing experience and strong communication skills.
• Experience with ISO standards and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical services installations for buildings across sectors.
• Demonstrate strong technical ability in mechanical/building services design.
• Create detailed layouts, schematics, and calculations.
• Lead design through development to delivery and manage design changes.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with clients and project teams.
• Prepare budget estimates and review submittals and variations.
• Ensure documentation aligns with ISO standards and project goals.
• Stay informed on sustainability trends through CPDs and seminars.
• Conduct site inspections and provide data to project teams.
