Job summary

Emergn, a technology and management consultancy, is hiring a Senior/Lead PHP Full-stack Engineer in a hybrid role based in Ireland (Dublin). You will design, build, and maintain enterprise applications in PHP (Symfony) and Angular, working with BAs to shape requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions.

You’ll apply MVC, DI and CQRS patterns, integrate microservices and secure REST APIs, and optimize MSSQL data with Redis caching while thriving in an Agile/Scrum environment with a strong testing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with PHP and Symfony
• Hands-on Symfony expertise and modern PHP practices
• Angular experience for front-end development (2+, ideally 15)
• Experience with MSSQL databases and Redis caching
• Experience building and securing REST APIs (OAuth)
• Experience delivering in Agile/Scrum with testing discipline (unit/integration)

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the whole solution, collaborating with Business Analysts to shape requirements
• Architect and integrate services using microservices and REST APIs

We want you to:

• Design, build, and maintain full-stack features across a PHP (Symfony) back-end and an Angular front-end.
• Take ownership of the whole solution, collaborating with the Business Analyst to shape requirements rather than waiting for them to be handed over.
• Architect and integrate services using microservices and layered patterns, exposing and consuming secure REST APIs.
• Model and optimize data in MSSQL and improve performance with Redis caching.
• Apply solid engineering practices such as MVC, Dependency Injection, and CQRS, backed by a clear test strategy of unit and integration tests.
• Contribute actively within an Agile/Scrum team, bringing a proactive, business-minded, and curious mindset.

This job might be for you if you have:

• 5+ years of experience with PHP.
• Experience in leading and managing teams.
• Hands-on experience in Symfony.
• Angular experience (2+, ideally 15) for building modern front-ends.
• Expertise in relational databases, particularly MSSQL, plus Redis caching.
• A strong grasp of design patterns (MVC, Dependency Injection, CQRS) and architecture styles (microservices, layered).
• Experience building and securing REST APIs, including OAuth.
• Experience delivering in Agile/Scrum with a solid testing discipline covering unit and integration tests.

You might also have:

• Experience with test-first approaches (TDD/BDD).
• Cloud experience with Azure, including message brokering (Azure Queue).
• Familiarity with Docker and Elasticsearch.
• Exposure to React and Next.js.
• Experience with Octopus for CI/CD.
• Familiarity with the Phalcon framework.
