Job summary

Mastercard Dublin team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own complex API features within a real-time fraud platform. You will design, implement and optimize high-performance Java services, work on distributed caching, and mentor peers in an Agile environment.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, collaboration with Product Owners, and delivering secure, scalable solutions for global payments at low latency.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency with modern Java (JDK 17+) and distributed systems.
• Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, RESTful APIs and JSON.
• Experience with distributed caching technologies (Geode, Hazelcast, Redis, Coherence) is highly desirable.
• Solid Linux, SQL and message-queuing knowledge; strong design patterns.
• Experience with JUnit or similar testing frameworks and test planning.
• CI/CD proficiency with Jenkins and Maven; working in a multi-developer environment.
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring tools and dashboards.
• Understanding of secure development practices and PCI-DSS considerations.

Responsibilities

• Own complex features and services end-to-end across the SDLC.
• Design high-performance, scalable Java capabilities and APIs.
• Lead code/design discussions and uphold coding standards.
• Coordinate releases across multi-region, follow-the-sun model.
• Participate in on-call support, incident remediation and performance tuning.
• Collaborate with Product and Business stakeholders; present demos.
• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
• Drive automation and adoption of best practices across delivery.
