Job summary

Telnyx LLC is hiring a senior Java backend engineer to build and optimize a highly available data pipeline powering Voice, Messaging, and Wireless products. You will work on Java 21 and Scala microservices across regions, with emphasis on low latency and scalability.

Exposure to distributed systems, Docker, Kubernetes, and ML-enabled fraud detection will be advantageous. A degree in CS/IT and 4+ years of Java experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience with Java and its ecosystem.
• Experience with Cassandra, ClickHouse, or OpenSearch.
• Experience with AI tooling, or a strong willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Work on 30+ microservices implemented in Java 21 and Scala to process, aggregate and expose data.
• Improve performance of the data pipeline; currently 10k messages/sec and growing.
• Architect services and pipelines for low latency across locations (US, EU, Australia, SA).
• Implement fraud detection processes with machine learning (Kafka and Kafka Streams).
• Deploy services to multi-cloud Kubernetes environments to achieve 99.999% uptime.
• Push code to production multiple times a day.
