Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator in Cork, Ireland. This hybrid role makes you the technical architect and owner of the client's internal IT environment, reporting to the CFO, owning the cloud infrastructure, identity management, zero-trust security, and SaaS ecosystem.

You will mentor a Help Desk Technician, drive IT strategy, streamline vendor costs, and build a secure, scalable platform for growth with high autonomy and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in IT systems administration or infrastructure engineering.
• Expertise in Entra ID (Azure AD) and Intune MDM across Windows/macOS.
• Hands-on security controls, EDR tools, and SOC 2/ISO readiness.
• Strong technical judgment and mentoring experience for junior IT staff.
• Resident in/near Cork for hybrid office presence.

Responsibilities

• Architect, secure, and scale core systems; own identity and device management across Windows and macOS.
• Enforce Zero-Trust, lead SOC 2 / ISO 27001 audit readiness, and set security policies for AI tools.
• Manage SaaS ecosystem (O365, Salesforce, NetSuite); optimize software spend.
• Mentor Help Desk Technician; establish SLAs; shift support to proactive.
• Automate onboarding/offboarding, maintain asset inventories, serve as final escalation point.

Direct Reports: Help Desk Technician

The Role

As Senior IT Systems Administrator, you will be the technical architect and operational owner of our clients internal IT environment. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own the cloud infrastructure, identity management, zero-trust security, and SaaS ecosystem, while mentoring a Help Desk Technician.

This is a high‑autonomy, hands‑on role for a senior engineer ready to drive IT strategy, streamline vendor costs, and build a secure, scalable platform for growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure & Identity: Architect, secure, and scale core systems. Own identity and device management across Windows and macOS (Entra ID, Intune MDM).
• Security & Compliance: Enforce Zero-Trust architectures, lead SOC 2 / ISO 27001 audit readiness, and establish security policies for enterprise AI tools.
• SaaS & Vendor Strategy: Manage the SaaS ecosystem (O365, Salesforce, NetSuite, etc.). Partner with the CFO to lead vendor negotiations, eliminate tool sprawl, and optimize software spend.
• Team Leadership: Mentoring and developing the Help Desk Technician; establishing SLAs and shifting support from reactive to proactive.
• Operations & Automation: Automate onboarding/offboarding workflows, maintain asset inventories, and act as the final escalation point for critical IT issues.

What You Bring

Required

• 6+ years in IT systems administration or infrastructure engineering.
• Expertise in Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune MDM, and mixed Windows/macOS environments.
• Hands‑on experience owning security controls, EDR tools (e.g., SentinelOne), and compliance audit readiness (SOC 2/ISO).
• Strong technical judgment, independent decision‑making, and experience mentoring junior IT staff.
• Resident in/near Cork for hybrid office presence.

Preferred

• Experience in high‑growth, SaaS, or Private Equity (PE)-backed environments.
• Scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
• Familiarity with enterprise SaaS platforms (NetSuite, Salesforce, MS Purview) and vendor contract negotiation.
