Job summary
AtkinsRéalis, based in Dublin, seeks a Senior HV Electrical Engineer to join our team delivering innovative electrical designs for major projects in Ireland, the UK and internationally.
You will lead HV substation design (132kV–400kV), review layouts and specifications, engage with utilities and stakeholders, and drive lifecycle delivery from feasibility through commissioning within a dynamic energy sector.
Qualifications
- Degree holder in electrical engineering with Chartered Engineer status preferred or progressing.
- Extensive HV substation design experience (132kV-400kV) in Ireland/UK environments.
- Familiarity with Irish TSO and DNO standards and processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, plus ability to lead technical workstreams.
Responsibilities
- Lead HV substation design and owners' engineering on projects.
- Review HV plant layouts, earthing, interlocking, busbar calculations, and specs.
- Assess detailed designs for compliance with outline design and specifications.
- Produce contestable spec packs and provide HV cables, stations and OHL input.
- Deliver engineering input across lifecycle from feasibility to commissioning.
- Support tendering activities and contribute to technical offers.
- Contribute to new technologies like energy storage, HVDC, and smart-grid.
