Job summary

Ethos is expanding its Energy Infrastructure capability in Ireland and seeks a Senior High Voltage Engineer to lead and delivery HV/MV projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe. The role involves substation design, grid connection work, and coordination with utilities, consultants, and clients to ensure high‑quality HV infrastructure delivery.

The successful candidate will manage multidisciplinary teams, contribute to internal capability growth, and review technical studies to support design

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8–15+ years of HV/MV electrical engineering experience.
• Proven delivery of HV substation projects up to 400 kV.
• Experience with AIS and GIS substations and grid connection infrastructure.
• Experience in consultancy environments or utility projects is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of HV and MV infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
• Develop and review SLDs, substation layouts, protection and control philosophies, HV cable systems, earthing and lightning protection.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
• Interface directly with clients, TSOs/DSOs/utilities and regulators.
• Support the development of Ethos’ HV engineering capability, including standards and mentoring.
• Review technical studies such as load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, harmonics and power quality studies.
• Support tendering, technical bid reviews and project planning activities.
• Attend site visits, inspections and commissioning activities as required.
