Sterling Engineering Ltd - Ireland & Europe is seeking a practical, detail-oriented Hardware Validation Engineer to join our engineering team. This hands-on, lab-based role focuses on validating electronic products throughout the development lifecycle to ensure performance, reliability and safety.

You will review schematics, perform functional and environmental testing, and work with Hardware, Firmware, Compliance, Quality and Manufacturing teams to support robust, compliant product releases.

Competenze

• A Diploma, Higher Certificate, Higher Diploma or Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related discipline.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in hardware validation, electronics testing, laboratory engineering or a similar technical role.
• Strong hands-on experience with electronic products and PCB assemblies.
• Ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs and component datasheets.
• Experience with standard electronics lab equipment and instrumentation.
• Excellent attention to detail and structured testing, data analysis and documentation.

Mansioni

• Develop, maintain and execute hardware validation plans, test procedures and reports.
• Review schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs and hardware specs for testability and risks.
• Perform functional, electrical, environmental and reliability testing on devices and subsystems.
• Validate analogue, digital, power, sensor, RF and embedded hardware designs.
• Conduct testing under varying voltage, temperature and environmental conditions.
• Perform verification, current consumption, power management, start-up and shutdown testing.
• Support EMC pre-compliance testing (ESD, surge, emissions, immunity).
• Carry out electrical robustness and safety testing on mains-powered products.
• Investigate failures, reproduce faults, support root-cause analysis and implement actions.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment (oscilloscopes, meters, loads, environmental chambers).
• Maintain accurate test records and document results clearly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with performance, quality and regulatory requirements.
