The Opportunity

We are seeking a practical and detail-oriented Hardware Validation Engineer to support the verification and validation of electronic products throughout the product development lifecycle.

This is a hands-on laboratory-based role focused on ensuring that new products meet functional, reliability, performance, and compliance requirements before release to manufacturing and the market. Working closely with Hardware, Firmware, Compliance, Quality, Manufacturing, and Test teams, you will play a critical role in ensuring product robustness, accelerating development cycles, and maintaining Ei Electronics’ reputation for quality and reliability.

The role offers an excellent opportunity for engineers who enjoy hands-on testing, problem-solving, and working with cutting-edge electronic and connected products, while building expertise across the full product development lifecycle.

What you will be responsible for
  • Develop, maintain, and execute hardware validation plans, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Review schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and hardware specifications from a validation and testability perspective.
  • Perform functional, electrical, environmental, and reliability testing on electronic products and subsystems.
  • Validate analogue, digital, power supply, sensor, RF, and embedded hardware designs.
  • Conduct testing across operating conditions including supply voltage, battery conditions, temperature, and environmental extremes.
  • Perform design verification, current consumption, power, start-up/shutdown, and operating-condition testing.
  • Support EMC pre-compliance testing, including ESD, surge, emissions, and immunity testing.
  • Conduct electrical robustness and safety-related testing on mains-powered products.
  • Investigate product failures, reproduce issues, support root-cause analysis, and verify corrective actions.
  • Operate laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, environmental chambers, and related instrumentation.
  • Maintain clear test records and produce structured technical reports. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure products meet performance, quality, and regulatory requirements.
What we are looking for
  • Diploma, Higher Certificate, Higher Diploma, or Degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in hardware validation, electronics testing, laboratory engineering, or a similar role.
  • Strong practical experience working with electronic products and PCB assemblies.
  • Ability to interpret electronic schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and component datasheets.
  • Experience using standard electronics laboratory equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to testing and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • EMC pre-compliance testing.
  • Environmental and reliability testing.
  • Battery-operated and mains-powered electronic products.
  • RF-enabled products and wireless communication technologies.
  • Sensor, analogue, and mixed-signal electronics.
  • Product validation within regulated or safety-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with EN, IEC, EMC, and electrical safety standards.
  • Strong hands-on laboratory and testing capability.
  • Structured and methodical problem-solving approach.
  • Technical report writing and documentation skills.
  • Root-cause analysis and debugging capability.
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
