Summary:

Our client, a leading biopharmaceutical company based in Cork, is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to join its finance team. The successful candidate will support the accounting, control and reporting requirements associated with complex alliance and collaboration arrangements. This role will involve close collaboration with Finance, Legal, Corporate Development and other internal and external stakeholders, while supporting accurate financial reporting, internal controls, audits and management reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Support end-to-end accounting and reporting processes for alliance and collaboration arrangements.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Coordinate collaboration-related receipts and payments.
• Analyse financial results and prepare clear variance explanations.
• Prepare management reports and external reporting schedules.
• Maintain an effective internal control environment across assigned areas.
• Work closely with Finance, Legal, Corporate Development and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Review complex collaboration arrangements and address related accounting matters.
• Communicate accounting issues clearly and within required reporting timelines.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and balance sheet reviews.
• Support the preparation and review of budgets and forecasts.
• Lead or support finance projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Assist with ad hoc accounting and reporting activities as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Qualified accountant, with ACA or an equivalent qualification preferred.
• Minimum of eight years’ relevant accounting experience.
• Big 4 training or experience is required.
• Experience working within a multinational organisation.
• Experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry would be advantageous.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including US GAAP.
• Experience working with SOX requirements and internal controls.
• Ability to review and interpret complex commercial or collaboration arrangements.
• Experience managing accounting activities, projects and reporting deadlines.
• Experience using SAP would be advantageous.
• Previous accounting experience involving alliance or collaboration arrangements would be beneficial.
