Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to join its Ireland Environment team. You will lead EIAR-related work, manage projects and mentor staff, while coordinating with project managers and regulators to deliver compliant environmental assessments across water, energy, and transport sectors.

The role emphasizes strong technical writing, stakeholder engagement, and business development within a hybrid working culture across Ireland.

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental science or engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Chartered membership or working toward it.
• Post-graduate consultancy experience including EIAR reporting.
• Experience across transport and energy with knowledge of Irish planning and environmental legislation.
• Strong technical report writing for EIARs and non-statutory reports.
• Experience with project and budget management, survey coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
• GIS tools (QGIS/MapInfo/ArcGIS) desirable.
• Excellent communication, analytical and mentoring skills.
• Full, clean driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate environmental inputs to infrastructure and development projects, including EIARs, EIA screenings, and non-statutory reports.
• Manage smaller environmental projects independently, including client liaison, budget oversight, and timely delivery.
• Support project managers and principal environmental scientists on larger, multidisciplinary projects by coordinating deliverables, timelines, and resources.
• Apply technical specialism (air quality, climate, noise & vibration, etc.) to deliver high-quality assessments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, supporting their development.
• Engage with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and successful outcomes.
• Contribute to business development with proposals, scopes, and fee estimates.
