Job summary

Dolby Laboratories in Ireland seeks a Software Quality Engineer to validate desktop Windows applications at global scale. You will focus on manual testing, test automation, and release quality for client-side software, contributing to stable, high-quality releases.

You will design and execute test plans, develop Python-based automation, and collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve coverage and reliability across Dolby's consumer applications.

Qualifications

• Experience in Software Quality Assurance (SQA) for consumer or client-side software.
• Hands-on manual testing including test case design, execution, exploratory testing, and defect reporting.
• Experience with test automation and scripting using Python or similar languages.
• Strong understanding of software testing fundamentals and quality practices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD based development and validation workflows.
• Ability to analyse, debug, and reason about issues.
• Good communication and collaboration with engineering and product teams.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools to support testing or automation.

The role

For Dolby's PC Applications, you will support the quality, stability, and reliability of consumer-facing native Windows applications used at global scale. This role focuses on desktop software validation, test automation, and release quality for client-side applications. It is not focused on web application testing, or data quality engineering.

As a Software Quality Engineer, you contribute to validating features and ensuring reliable releases, working under guidance while building ownership of test areas.

What you will do

• Execute manual and exploratory tests for assigned features or application areas.
• Design, execute, and maintain test cases based on requirements and specifications.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated tests using Python and existing automation frameworks.
• Participate in release validation, regression testing, smoke testing, and automated test execution.
• Clearly report defects and work with software engineers to support investigation and resolution.Maintain basic test documentation and contribute to improving test coverage over time.

What you bring

Required:

• Experience in Software Quality Assurance (SQA) or quality engineering for consumer or client-side software.
• Hands-on experience with manual testing, including test case design, execution, exploratory testing, and defect reporting.
