Job description

The Senior Engineer (Multi-Site) lead, manages and coordinates all engineering activity across two residential development sites in County Kildare and is the single point of accountability to the Company for engineering delivery on both sites.

The role combines hands‑on technical authority — survey and dimensional control, infrastructure delivery, temporary works interface, quality assurance and technical compliance — with the leadership of the engineering teams deployed on each site. Expectation is to establish and maintain a consistent engineering standard across both projects, to anticipate and resolve technical risk before it affects programme or cost, and to develop the intermediate and junior engineers reporting to them.

  • Lead and coordinate all engineering activity across both sites, holding single-point accountability for engineering delivery.
  • Establish and enforce common engineering standards, procedures and record formats so that both sites operate to an identical benchmark.
  • Plan and allocate engineering resource between the sites in line with programme demand, maintain a structured weekly presence on each, and elevate resourcing shortfalls to the Contracts Manager in good time.
2.2 Survey, setting out and dimensional control
  • Ensure all setting out is carried out from the current approved drawing revision, with records prepared, checked and retained, and operate a documented independent-check regime so that no critical dimension is set out and checked by the same person.
  • Verify site boundaries and legal lines against the folio/Land Registry mapping and the permitted planning drawings, and **escalate** any encroachment or discrepancy immediately and in writing.
2.3 Technical and design coordination
  • Control the drawing and specification registers for both sites, and raise, track and close out RFIs and technical queries, reporting on programme-critical items.
  • Review issued design information for buildability, coordination and sequencing, and coordinate the consulting engineer, architect, M&E consultant and specialist designers.
  • Manage the temporary works interface in accordance with the Company’s temporary works procedure, and give prompt written notice of unforeseen ground conditions to the Contracts Manager and Quantity Surveyor.
2.4 Infrastructure, services and taking in charge
  • Deliver all site development works — roads, drainage, attenuation and SuDS, watermains, ducting, public lighting and open space — to a standard capable of being taken in charge by the local Council and, for water services, vested in Uisce Éireann.
  • Manage self-lay water and wastewater works in accordance with the applicable Uisce Éireann Codes of Practice, including hold points, testing, CCTV survey and connection application milestones.
  • Compile as-built and record information progressively, and prepare and submit the taking-in-charge and Uisce Éireann vesting submissions, managing queries and remedial works through to acceptance.
2.5 Quality assurance and regulatory compliance
  • Prepare, implement and maintain Inspection and Test Plans, and maintain the engineering quality records that support them, including pour cards, test and materials conformity certification and dated photographic records.
  • Present works for inspection at the correct stages, support the Assigned, Design and Ancillary Certifiers under the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations, and retain the evidence underpinning the builder’s Certificate of Compliance on Completion.
  • Record, **escalate** and close out non-conformances with documented evidence, and track compliance with every planning condition having an engineering element.
2.6 Health, safety and environment
  • Discharge all duties under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Construction Regulations 2013, and support the Company’s obligations as Project Supervisor for the Construction Stage.
  • Ensure engineering activities are covered by current, task-specific risk assessments and method statements, and enforce controls for excavation, confined spaces, lifting and services avoidance, including the permit-to-dig regime.
  • Stop unsafe work immediately and without reference upwards, and set a visible personal standard to which the engineering team is held.
2.7 Programme and commercial support
  • Produce engineering short-term and look-ahead programmes, and sequence infrastructure and external works to align with unit release and sales handover.
  • Identify, quantify and **escalate** programme risk arising from information availability, utility connections, ground conditions or statutory consents.
  • Maintain the contemporaneous records required by the commercial function, verify subcontractor measure jointly with the Quantity Surveyor before payment, and notify promptly and in writing any event likely to carry a cost or time consequence.
2.8 Team leadership and reporting
  • Line-manage the intermediate and junior/graduate engineers on both sites, set clear objectives and complete performance reviews in accordance with Company policy.
  • Provide a weekly written engineering report for each site to the Contracts Manager, and report promptly to the Construction Director any matter of significant technical, regulatory or reputational risk.
