Job Description

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be a key member of the site engineering team, responsible for ensuring that our high-reliability discrete semiconductor products meet stringent customer, industry, and regulatory requirements. You will own product and process definition through part requirement analysis and test flow selection, ensuring products are correctly processed through electrical screening and sampling operations in accordance with applicable military, aerospace, and internal specification test methods.

You will develop and maintain robust process controls, drive automation initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement in yield, quality, throughput, and cost of ownership.

The Manufacturing Engineering team in Ennis comprises two disciplines: electrical and mechanical. This position focuses on electrical engineering support for the site, including back-end test and reliability screening operations.

Working Pattern

This is a days-based position covering Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:30.

Why Join Us

You will receive structured in-house training and be coached and mentored by senior engineers with deep expertise in high-reliability semiconductor manufacturing — an excellent platform to build a career in a specialized, high-value segment of the industry.

Role Focus
  • Lead and support project work on high-reliability screening operations, including High Temperature Reverse Bias (HTRB), burn-in, and electrical test/screening methodologies.
  • Partner with site engineers on equipment appraisal and qualification initiatives, driving process standardization, quality improvement, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) enhancements.
  • Develop deep knowledge of products, processes, and test equipment to provide technical direction on product disposition through screening and sampling process steps.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry test methods, standards, and customer source-control requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Apply reliability engineering theory and principles (e.g., failure mechanisms, acceleration models, screening effectiveness) to Microchip products and manufacturing processes.
  • Drive data analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause / corrective action (RCCA) activities to resolve yield, quality, and equipment issues and to sustain continuous improvement.
  • Originate and develop technical solutions, process advancements, and automation initiatives that strengthen Microchip’s position as an industry leader in high-reliability discrete semiconductors.
  • Create and maintain process and product documentation, including test flows, specifications, and associated process controls.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (Level 8) in Engineering or Physics; Electronic/Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement and quality methodologies — Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, DOE, DMAIC, FMEA, SPC — is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor device physics, discrete power devices (e.g., diodes and bipolar transistors), or ATE/electrical test environments is an advantage but not essential.
Essential Skills and Attributes
  • Strong grasp of electrical engineering fundamentals and semiconductor device behavior.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, retain, and apply detailed product and process knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively within cross-functional project teams and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, including the Microsoft Office suite; experience with data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Excel analytics) is an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to develop new skills, with a strong team orientation and a commitment to demonstrating the Microchip values and culture.
