Qualifications

• Proven senior engineer/engineering management experience in groundworks or civil works.
• Strong knowledge of drainage, utilities, foundations and roads.
• Experience supervising and mentoring junior engineers.
• Proven ability to interpret construction drawings and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage junior site engineers across multiple projects.
• Coordinate all engineering, surveying and setting-out activities.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers.
• Review construction drawings, specifications and design information.
• Identify drawing discrepancies, design clashes and issues before works commence.
• Ensure accurate setting out of drainage, watermains, services, foundations, roads and site infrastructure.
• Manage as-built surveys, quality records, testing documents and reports.
• Liaise with consultants, designers, main contractors and site teams.
• Ensure equipment, GPS systems and total stations are used correctly.
• Assist with technical planning and upcoming work requirements.
• Monitor progress to ensure conformance with drawings and specs.
• Travel between projects to provide engineering support.

Job Description

P Kiernan Groundworks Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer / Engineering Manager to join our expanding management team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing, managing and supporting our site engineers across multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects.

This is a senior position suited to an experienced engineer with strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills and the ability to coordinate engineering activities across several sites.

The role will involve working closely with our Operations Manager, Contracts Manager and site management teams to ensure engineering works are planned, coordinated and delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage junior site engineers across multiple projects.
• Coordinate all engineering, surveying and setting-out activities.
• Provide technical guidance, training and support to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Engineer within groundworks or civil engineering.
• Strong experience in residential site development and infrastructure works.
• Excellent knowledge of drainage, utilities, foundations and roads.
• Experience supervising and mentoring junior engineers.
• Proficient in Leica, Trimble GPS, Total Stations and AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret complex construction drawings and resolve technical issues.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Previous experience working on Irish construction projects is essential.
• Full driving licence required.
