Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Engineer - Dublin to join our Natural Resources team in the Dublin area. You will oversee site engineering activities on large civil projects, ensuring safety, quality and programme compliance while coordinating with client, designer and supply chain.

The ideal candidate has 6-8 years of site-based civil experience, strong CAD and surveying skills, and a proven track record mentoring junior engineers and delivering safe, compliant works on complex schemes.

Qualifications

• CSCS card and 6-8 years of experience on large civil site projects.
• Knowledge of reinforced concrete, deep drainage, earthworks and traffic management.
• Experience as temporary works supervisor or TW coordinator.
• Ability to mentor junior site engineers across all aspects of site engineering.
• Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
• Proven training with surveying/CAD techniques.
• Ability to communicate with Top Level Management, senior clients and public.
• Understanding of commercial issues on large-scale construction projects.
• Knowledge of civil engineering legislation, health & safety and environmental rules.

Responsibilities

• Keep a full daily site diary and records of changes.

Job description

Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Engineer - Dublin to work with our Natural Resources team in the Dublin area. We maintain, operate, modify, design, construct and commission new energy networks and facilities across four countries; guiding our customers through the challenges of the energy transition and supporting their commitments to achieve net zero emissions. We provide safe and reliable specialist services as a trusted Engineering, Procure, Fabrication, Maintain and Decommissioning (EPFCM&D) partner. This includes work with onshore and offshore oil, gas pipelines, gas diversions and renewable energies.

What you will be doing:

• Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
• Supervise assistant and site engineers
• Assist with temporary works design schemes
• Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non-compliance with Company policies and procedures are promptly remedied.
• Maintain good working relations with client / designer / Team, together with our supply chain.
• Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
• Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works.
• Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow the programme to proceed without delay.
• Communicate with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided.
• Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant for the use in the construction process.
• Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
• Keep a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes/variations, subcontractors' attendance, and records of work related discussions with client / designer / project team.
• Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP / Specification, including a check of dimension accuracy and quality.

Who we are looking for:

• CSCS Card (relevant type) All roles are expected to have the relevant competency skills cards 6-8years, proven experience in site based large civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge of reinforced concrete works, deep drainage, earthworks, traffic management and. general civil works
• Experience if temp works as TW supervisor or TW coordinator
• Demonstrate ability to manage and mentor junior staff in all aspects of site engineering
• Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
• Proven experience/training with all the latest surveying/CAD techniques
• Ability and confidence to communicate and present to Top Level Management, Senior level clients and public.
• An understanding of the commercial issues in undertaking a large-scale construction project.
• Ability and confidence to discuss engineering issues with people across various levels and disciplines.
• Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
