Job summary

Murphy International Limited is recruiting a Water MEICA Project Engineer to support our expanding Water & Wastewater portfolio, delivering design-to-operation solutions for major clients in Ireland.

You will work within a team to ensure safety, quality and timely delivery on-site, while engaging with suppliers and coordinating with project stakeholders. A Level 7 honours degree and driving licence are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar water/wastewater role.
  • Level 7 Honours Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Ability to engage with suppliers and subcontractors at procurement stage and during delivery.
  • Proficient in MS Office, CAD, GPS and total station.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing a 'one team' culture.
  • Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures on-site.
  • Be familiar with HSQE management system and current statutory requirements.
  • Provide coverage in the absence of the Project Manager and manage day-to-day site operations.
  • Review, prepare and submit Method Statements and Risk Assessments prior to work activities.
  • Ensure delivery in line with quality procedures, including FAT, SAT, ITRs, testing and commissioning.
  • Prepare and submit handover files including O&M Manuals, Safety Files and As-Constructed Drawings.
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors for procurement and supply delivery.
  • Monitor progress on-site and adjust workflow to meet the programme.

Job description

Murphy is recruiting a Water MEICA Project Engineer to support our expanding Water & Wastewater portfolio, delivering full design-to-operation solutions for Uisce ireann, Northern Ireland Water and other key clients, underpinned by our commitment to delivering safely, responsibly and to the highest standards.

What you will be doing:
  • Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a "one team" culture.
  • Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site.
  • Be familiar with the HSQE management system and procedures in conjunction with current statutory requirements.
  • Provide coverage in the absence of the Project Manager, managing the day-to-day operation of the site when required.
  • Be familiar with programme and budgets for the project, fully understanding the impact any overruns shall have.
  • Review, prepare and submit detailed Method Statements and Risk Assessments prior to work activities commencing.
  • Ensure the project is delivered in line with quality procedures, including FAT, SAT, ITRs, pipe pressure testing, hydrostatic tank testing and commissioning.
  • Prepare and submit project handover files including O&M Manuals, Safety Files and As-Constructed Drawings.
  • Engage with suppliers and the subcontract chain to select vendors and support equipment selection and procurement.
  • Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, site staff, commercial resources and the general site team involved in the project.
  • Monitor progress on-site to ensure delivery in line with the works programme, adjusting workflow as necessary to achieve or better the completion date.
  • Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through CPD, showing eagerness to learn while mentoring and training junior staff.
Who we are looking for:
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a similar role, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.
  • Minimum of a Level 7 Honours Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
  • An interest in developing a career within an industry-leading organisation.
  • Ability to engage with suppliers and sub-contractors at procurement stage and in the delivery of their scope of supply during contract delivery.
  • Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery.
  • Good working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good working knowledge in the use of GPS, total station and CAD.
  • Full driving licence.
