Job summary

ICDS Group is seeking a Senior Site Engineer for a major life sciences project in Athlone. You will oversee on-site engineering and setting-out, ensuring works meet design, specs and programme while maintaining safety and quality.

You will mentor junior engineers and coordinate with subcontractors, consultants and the project team to resolve technical issues on site. The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree, 5+ years' site experience, strong setting-out and surveying skills, and

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as Site/Senior Site Engineer.
• Strong setting-out and surveying experience.
• Experience with a main contractor.
• Experience on large-scale life sciences or similar projects is advantageous.
• Knowledge of drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience using Total Station and GPS.

Responsibilities

Senior Site Engineer - Athlone, Co. Westmeath - Site Based

Salary: €75,000-€85,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join the team on a major, high-profile life sciences/pharmaceutical development in Athlone.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a technically complex, high-value project for a globally recognised client, gaining valuable experience within one of Ireland's fastest-growing sectors.

The Role

As Senior Site Engineer, you will play a key role within the site engineering team, overseeing engineering and setting-out activities and ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with the design, specifications and programme.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing and supervising setting-out and engineering activities on site.
• Supervising junior engineers and supporting the wider site team.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Ensuring all works are set out and constructed accurately.
• Checking reinforcement, shuttering and dimensions prior to concrete pours.
• Liaising with subcontractors, consultants and the wider project team.
• Identifying and resolving technical issues on site.
• Coordinating with the design team on technical queries and design changes.
• Maintaining accurate records, quality documentation and site reports.
• Ensuring works comply with project specifications, quality standards and programme requirements.
• Supporting the Project Manager and Site Management team with technical delivery.
• Ensuring health, safety and environmental requirements are maintained across all engineering activities.
• Assisting with the mentoring and development of junior engineers.

The Ideal Candidate

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Site Engineer/Senior Site Engineer position.
• Strong setting-out and surveying experience.
• Previous experience with a main contractor.
• Experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, data centre or life sciences projects would be highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience using Total Station, GPS and relevant surveying equipment.
• Good understanding of temporary works and construction methodologies.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering activities.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
