Job summary

Life Science Recruitment is seeking a Senior Electronic Engineer for a hands-on hardware role in Castletroy, Limerick, within a fast-growing Pharmacy Automation team. You'll own end-to-end PCBA design and work across robotics, vision systems, and management platforms to bring complex electro-mechanical products to life.

The role requires a Level 8 Electronic Engineering degree and 5+ years of experience, with strong analog, digital, and mixed-signal design, plus hands-on board work and ECAD

Qualifications

• A Level 8 degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in a similar role in machinery or regulated equipment.
• Strong analog, digital and mixed-signal design knowledge.
• Hands-on PCBA design experience for industrial or regulated products.
• Proficiency with ECAD tools — Altium Designer preferred.
• Bonus for Machinery Regulation compliance, EMC testing, or formal requirements documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end PCBA design: concept, schematic capture, component selection, layout support, bring-up, verification and release to manufacturing.
• Select and qualify components for performance, reliability, lifecycle and second-source strategy.
• Debug and verify board designs using lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyser, power analysis).
• Design for EMI compliance, safety and manufacturability (DFM/DFT/DFA).
• Ensure designs meet agency and regulatory requirements (UL, IEC, FDA, Machinery Regulation).
• Conduct failure analysis and root‑cause investigations.
• Write design specs, test protocols and test reports; lead technical design reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical ownership within the team.

Overview: My client are looking for a Senior Electronic Engineer to join their fast-growing Pharmacy Automation team.
This is a hands‑on hardware role at the heart of a diverse product portfolio spanning robotics, automated dispensing, vision systems, and pharmacy management platforms. You'll work across the full product lifecycle — from early‑stage concept through to commercialisation — alongside mechanical, software, systems, and quality teams to bring complex electro‑mechanical products to life.

What you'll be doing

• Owning end-to-end PCBA design: concept, schematic capture, component selection, layout support, bring-up, verification, and release to manufacturing


• Selecting and qualifying components for electrical performance, reliability, availability, lifecycle, and second-source strategy


• Debugging and verifying board designs using lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyser, power analysis)


• Designing for EMI compliance, safety, and manufacturability (DFM/DFA/DFT)


• Ensuring designs meet agency and regulatory requirements (UL, IEC, FDA, Machinery Regulation) throughout development

What you'll bring
