Job summary

Synergy Recruitment Partners is seeking a Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer to oversee planned maintenance, coordinate with the maintenance planner and team, and manage HV switching activities in a mission-critical environment.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead HV switching, drive maintenance via CMMS, and mentor on-site technicians, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while coordinating with third‑party vendors.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrical Tradesperson with HV training.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering desirable.
• Experience coordinating HV switching and sub-contractors.
• Experience with CMMS/SCADA systems.
• Familiarity with LOTO and permit-to-work processes.

Senior Electrical Maintenance Engineer Great opportunity for aSenior Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Senior Authorised Person)to oversee planned maintenance, coordinate works with the maintenance planner and wider maintenance team, be responsible for all HV related switching activities on site with a safety-first mindset, respond to emergency events during normal work hours and out of hours when on-call in a mission critical environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will serve as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical equipment in a mission-critical environment. Your core focus is ensuring maximum plant availability, leading HV switching activities, and managing preventative maintenance alongside third-party vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• HV & Switching Operations: Lead site HV switching, develop SOPs/EOPs/MOPs, and maintain strict control over Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work systems.
• Maintenance & Reliability: Coordinate outages and planned maintenance via the CMMS; conduct root-cause analysis on faults to optimize asset performance.
• Vendor & Project Management: Oversee third-party contractors, track SLA performance, and execute site electrical projects safely within budget.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce site safety standards, process safety, and regulatory compliance while mentoring on-site technicians and Authorised Persons.

Requirements

• Technical Qualifications: Qualified Electrical Tradesperson (NFQ or equivalent) with accredited HV training (e.g., City & Guilds).
• A degree in Electrical Engineering is desirable.
• Core Experience: Hands‑on experience coordinating HV switching, managing sub‑contractors, and using CMMS/SCADA systems.
• Skills: Strong fault‑finding ability, report writing, and familiarity with power generation equipment (backup generators/CCGT).
• Commissioning or protection system experience is a plus.
