Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer for the Decision Management Platform. You will design and operate high‑volume, low‑latency financial systems in public and private clouds, collaborating with global engineering teams to drive DevOps initiatives.

Lead by example with hands‑on coding, build scalable architectures, and champion IaC practices using Terraform and CloudFormation while focusing on uptime, deployment velocity and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering and DevOps roles, including leadership.
• Strong Linux systems administration background.
• Deep familiarity with AWS cloud environments.
• Proven experience with container orchestration and tooling (Kubernetes, Helm, Docker Compose).
• Hands‑on experience with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, XLR).
• Proficient in scripting and programming (Bash, Python, Java).
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Druid, Splunk, Loki).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with Developers, QE, Operations and support teams.
• Experience with FinOps or cloud cost optimization.
• Demonstrated ownership mindset and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Architect, provision, and manage public and on‑prem cloud infrastructure.
• Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for fast, safe delivery of distributed systems.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to design scalable systems and troubleshoot issues.
• Champion Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Drive observability and reliability with monitoring and logging tooling.
• Foster innovation and cost optimization across the platform.
• Contribute to hands‑on coding and automation when needed.
• Partner with stakeholders to align DevOps with business objectives.
