Job summary

Mastercard Ireland seeks a Principal DevOps Engineer for the Decision Management Platform to design and deploy high‑volume, low‑latency financial systems in public and private clouds. You will work with global engineers to advance DevOps initiatives across a scalable, real‑time platform.

You’ll champion IaC with Terraform and CloudFormation, lead CI/CD efforts, and improve observability, reliability, and cost efficiency while hands‑on coding when needed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Software Engineering and DevOps, with leadership.
• Strong Linux administration background.
• Deep AWS cloud experience.
• Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and tooling (Helm, Docker Compose).
• Hands-on with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Solid CI/CD knowledge (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, XLR).
• Scripting/programming (Bash, Python, Java).
• Experience with monitoring/observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Druid, Splunk, Loki).
• Excellent communication across Dev, QE, Ops.
• FinOps or cloud cost optimization experience.
• Ownership mindset and fast-paced multi-tasking capability.

Responsibilities

• Architect, provision, and manage public and on‑prem cloud infrastructure, including containerized and virtualized systems.
• Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for fast, safe delivery of complex distributed systems across global data centres.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with R&D teams to design scalable systems and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Champion Infrastructure as Code principles using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Drive observability and reliability through monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
• Foster innovation and cost optimization, adopting new tools and practices.
• Contribute to hands‑on coding and automation efforts when needed.
• Partner with stakeholders to align DevOps initiatives with business objectives.
