Job summary

Mastercard’s Services Technology organization is seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer for the Decision Management Platform. You will design and manage high-volume, low-latency financial systems across cloud environments, leading DevOps initiatives with global engineering teams.

The role emphasizes automation, IaC, and end-to-end reliability. You will collaborate with R&D to deliver scalable, real-time decisioning capabilities for fraud prevention, risk scoring, and identity verification.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Software Engineering and DevOps roles, incl. 2+ years in tech leadership.
• Strong Linux systems administration background
• Deep familiarity with AWS cloud environments
• Experience with container orchestration and tooling (Kubernetes, Helm, Docker Compose)
• Hands-on with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, XLR)
• Scripting and programming (Bash, Python, Java)
• Monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Loki)
• Excellent communication across Dev, QE, Ops and support teams
• Experience with FinOps or cost optimization in cloud environments
• Demonstrated ownership mindset and ability to thrive in fast-paced environments

Responsibilities

• Architect, provision, and manage public and on-prem cloud infrastructure, including containerized and virtualized systems
• Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for fast, safe, repeatable delivery of distributed systems
• Collaborate with R&D teams to design scalable systems and troubleshoot complex issues
• Champion Infrastructure as Code principles using Terraform and CloudFormation
• Drive observability and reliability through monitoring, logging, and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Loki)
• Foster innovation, adopting new tools to increase efficiency, scalability, and cost optimization
• Contribute to hands-on coding and automation when needed
• Partner with stakeholders to align DevOps initiatives with uptime, deployment velocity, and cost efficiency
