Sigmar Recruitment is delighted to partner with a leading architecture and project management firm to appoint a Senior Design Manager for Data Centres in Ireland. You will lead data centre design projects from concept to completion, ensuring compliant, efficient and secure facilities.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic oversight of design development, and a track record delivering mission-critical facilities.

Qualifications

• 10 to 15+ years' experience delivering Data Centre projects or large-scale technical facilities.
• Expert understanding of Data Centre architecture, technical design, MEP coordination and Tier standards.
• Strong knowledge of international building codes and sustainability approaches.
• Proven ability to lead design development and resolve complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Data Centre design projects from initial concept through to completion.
• Oversee design stages, ensuring compliance, functionality and industry-standard alignment.
• Coordinate procurement, contracts administration, and monitor construction delivery.
• Direct design development with emphasis on sustainability and local building regulations.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to protocols.
• Manage resources, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.

About Your New Job as Senior Design Manager - Data Centres

• Lead and manage Data Centre design projects from initial concept through to completion, ensuring delivery of efficient, secure, and operationally robust facilities.
• Oversee all design stages, working closely with client stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical compliance, functionality, and alignment with industry standards.
• Coordinate procurement processes, contract administration, and monitor construction delivery, ensuring project milestones and quality standards are met.
• Direct technical design development, ensuring strict compliance with international Data Centre design codes, sustainability requirements, and all relevant local building regulations.
• Conduct site inspections and reviews to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to specialised Data Centre design protocols.
• Manage project resources, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations effectively, acting as a key point of contact for internal teams and external partners.

What Skills You Need as Senior Design Manager

• 10 to 15+ years' experience as a Design Manager/Architect, with a proven track record delivering Data Centre projects or large-scale technical facilities.
• Expert understanding of Data Centre architecture, technical design, MEP coordination, and operational requirements, including Tier certification standards.
• Strong technical proficiency in international building codes, sustainability approaches, and industry best practices in Data Centre design and construction.
• Demonstrated experience in site management, design-stage coordination, and resolving complex technical challenges on mission-critical projects.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with confidence working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
