Job summary

Empyrean Solutions in Cork, Ireland is hiring a senior software engineer to help build the data platform for enterprise SaaS backend, with exactly-once processing and multi-tenant isolation. You’ll join a platform team and work on production-grade services using Python and C#/.NET, delivering scalable data pipelines and reliable APIs.

You’ll collaborate with a data architect, test automation engineers, and a small team to ship maintainable backend code.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building software professionally, with backend services in production.
• Proficiency in Python, C#/.NET or similar backend languages.
• Understanding of distributed systems: idempotency, ordering, retries, exactly-once costs.
• Experience with APIs and schema evolution, versioning and backward compatibility.
• Strong SQL and data warehouse concepts.
• Mentoring through code reviews and pairing.

Responsibilities

• Build and run backend services for the platform in production.
• Design event-driven ingestion and versioned APIs.
• Ensure exact decimal arithmetic and point-in-time history.
• Scale services and storage while controlling costs.
• Develop self-service onboarding and multi-tenant controls.
• Prepare data for AI/ML and maintain data quality.
