Job summary

Abbott in Ireland is expanding its Digital, Data & AI team in Sligo and seeking a Senior Data Engineer. You will design and build scalable data products and pipelines, align solutions with regulatory standards, and enable AI-ready data foundations.

The role collaborates with data scientists, engineers, and IT partners to deliver high-quality data capabilities. Join a team tackling data-driven transformation across life sciences, manufacturing, and analytics.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
Significant experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions.
Strong experience with AWS Cloud technologies, Databricks, Oracle databases, Python, Spark, and SQL.
Experience implementing Data Governance and Data Quality practices.
Experience supporting AI, machine learning, analytics, and reporting solutions.
Experience working in highly regulated Life Sciences environments with CSV, FDA/EU compliance considerations.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable data products, pipelines, and platforms.
Translate requirements into robust technical solutions delivering measurable value.
Create reusable data assets to improve accessibility and efficiency.
Ensure data platforms support increasing volumes and AI requirements.
Collaborate with Data Scientists to enable scalable deployment of models.
Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
