Job summary

Musgrave, a 150-year family‑owned business, supports communities in Ireland and Spain. We are building a cloud‑based data platform to enable analytics and AI‑driven use cases. We seek a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable data solutions while guiding the team.

The role blends hands‑on engineering with technical leadership, ensuring architectures are robust, high‑performing and secure. Location is flexible in Ireland with a hybrid work model; occasional travel to Cork.

Qualifications

• Third-level IT/CS/Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience with modern cloud data platforms and data engineering.
• Strong SQL and data transformation capabilities.
• Experience designing scalable, distributed data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise complex data pipelines and data products across the enterprise data platform.
• Lead ingestion, transformation and processing solutions (batch, micro-batch, streaming).
• Translate architectural designs into scalable, production‑ready engineering solutions.
• Ensure solutions are high‑performing, resilient, secure and aligned to data standards.
• Take ownership of end‑to‑end delivery of key components or workstreams.
• Mentor and support Data Engineers, promoting best practices in coding, testing and deployment.
• Contribute to and evolve engineering standards and reusable frameworks.
• Support data integration from multiple sources and collaborate with architects/PMs.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and act as a technical escalation point.
