Job summary

AIR Sligo is seeking a dynamic Controls Engineer to join our automation team. You will design, develop and implement advanced control systems for bespoke equipment, collaborating with a skilled engineering group on challenging global projects.

The role requires a degree in engineering, at least five years in machine control, and hands-on experience with AB Control Logix, Siemens S7, robotics and machine vision.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Min 5 years relevant experience working on the creation of machine control systems.
• Proven ability to program AB Control Logix and Siemens S7; familiar with networks and drive systems.
• Experience in robotics (ABB, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Epson) and machine vision (Cognex, Keyence).
• Excellent communication skills; self-starter with attention to detail. Project management experience advantageous.
• Willingness to travel as required and driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts and specifications for equipment from User Requirement Specifications.
• Develop and debug machine control programs including PLC/HMI/Robotics/Motion Control/Vision.
• Research, develop, and implement new control technologies.
• Coordinate and manage controls elements of build and debug of equipment.
• Ensure controls aspects meet schedule and budget; liaison with customers and suppliers.
