Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking an experienced Compliance Architect to shape technology strategy across Financial Crimes, Regulatory Compliance and Regulatory Change. You will define the future technology landscape, drive modernization and ensure our compliance technology is scalable and resilient.

You will provide strategic leadership across cloud, data, integration and enterprise platforms, partnering with Technology, Compliance, Risk and Product teams to deliver secure solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in enterprise, solution, application or data architecture.
• Experience in at least two areas: Financial Crime, Regulatory Compliance, or Regulatory Change / GRC.
• Strong knowledge of cloud and hybrid architectures, APIs, microservices and Kubernetes/container platforms.
• Experience with modern data technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, data lakes or data warehouses).
• Understanding resiliency, disaster recovery, high availability and operational readiness.
• Experience evaluating vendor solutions and influencing technology and architecture decisions.
• Strong communication with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Degree in CS/Engineering/IS; significant leadership in technology.

Responsibilities

• Define target-state architecture and technology roadmap for Compliance and Financial Crimes tech.
• Provide architecture leadership across AML, KYC, sanctions, fraud, surveillance and GRC.
• Lead technology modernization: cloud adoption, platform consolidation and reducing technical debt.
• Design and govern architecture across cloud-native, SaaS, hybrid and on-premise environments.
• Evaluate platforms and vendor solutions for scalability, security, resilience and cost.
• Shape enterprise integration and data architecture with APIs, microservices and modern data platforms.
• Provide architecture oversight for compliance platforms like Actimise and ServiceNow IRM.
• Champion DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing and infrastructure-as-code.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to guide major technology investments and transformation.
