Job summary

Northern Trust seeks an experienced Compliance Architect to shape technology strategy across Financial Crimes, Regulatory Compliance and Regulatory Change. You will define future technology landscape, drive platform modernization, and ensure a scalable, resilient ecosystem that supports AML, KYC, sanctions and surveillance.

Qualifications

• Strong enterprise, solution, application, data or integration architecture experience.
• Experience across Financial Crime: AML, KYC, sanctions, transaction monitoring, fraud or case management.
• Regulatory Compliance: surveillance, regulatory reporting, ethics/conduct or conduct risk.
• Cloud and hybrid architectures, APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, Kubernetes/container platforms.
• Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, data lakes/warehouses or advanced analytics platforms.
• Understanding of resiliency, disaster recovery, high availability and operational readiness.
• Experience evaluating vendor solutions and influencing technology decisions.
• Strong communication across Technology, Compliance, Risk, Audit and leadership.
• Degree in CS/Engineering/IS or related field; significant architecture/engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive target-state architecture and technology roadmap across Compliance and Financial Crimes tech.
• Provide architecture leadership for AML, KYC, sanctions, fraud, surveillance and regulatory tech.
• Lead technology modernisation including cloud adoption, platform consolidation and reducing technical debt.
• Design and govern architecture across cloud-native, SaaS, hybrid and on-premise environments.
• Evaluate strategic platforms and vendor solutions considering scalability, security, resilience and cost.
• Shape enterprise integration and data architecture across APIs, microservices, event-driven systems and modern data platforms.
• Provide architecture oversight for platforms like Actimise and ServiceNow IRM.
• Champion modern engineering practices: DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, IaC and resilient architecture.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to guide major technology investments and transformation initiatives.
