Job summary

AMCS Group in Ireland is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our engineering team. You will help ensure reliability, scalability and security of our databases across development and customer environments.

You will mentor engineers, participate in architecture discussions, and implement robust database solutions that support our cloud SaaS platform. The role offers opportunities to impact sustainability by enabling data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in Database Administration with at least 2 years in a cloud DB environment.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, and GCP).
• Experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL and cloud DBs (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Proven oversight in design/architecture driving performance and scalability.
• Strong SQL skills (T-SQL, PL/pgSQL) and scripting (PowerShell, Python).
• Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines for database changes.
• Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog).

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain internal development and customer SQL databases (SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL).
• Design, implement and manage cloud database infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and Python to improve efficiency.
• Monitor and optimise database performance across a large estate.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues with timely solutions.
• Collaborate with development to design robust database solutions.
• Act as SME during live customer incidents and investigations.
• Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with policies.
• Undertake database project work as required.
