Job summary

IPB Insurance in Ireland seeks a Senior Claims Handler - Litigation to manage a portfolio of liability litigation claims, setting case strategies and guiding expert witnesses. You will work with clients and legal professionals to deliver timely resolutions while controlling costs and maintaining strong service standards.

Reporting to the Claims Litigation Manager, you will ensure compliance with IPB's policies, participate in professional development, and contribute to strategic improvements

Qualifications

  • MCC qualified (CIP minimum) with a relevant professional or third-level qualification.
  • Significant experience in general insurance claims, with expert knowledge of PL, EL, and Motor/Property claims.
  • Ability to set strategy, manage litigation, negotiate and settle autonomously in live trial environments.
  • Strong analytical, decisive, and organisational skills; able to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, active listening) and a customer-focused approach.
  • High numeracy and proficiency in systemised claims handling and MS Office.
  • Flexible, results-driven, able to deliver under pressure in a changing regulatory and operational landscape.

  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies, governance standards, MCC/CPD requirements, and fraud prevention measures.

Job description

Title: Senior Claims Handler - Litigation

Reporting to: Claims Litigation Manager

Location: Grand Canal Dock, Dublin 2

Contract: Permanent

Working Model: Hybrid Working Model (two days in the office, three days working remotely in Ireland on a weekly basis. Flexibility to work additional days in the office will be required depending on business demands).

About the Role

The Senior Claims Handler - Litigation manages a portfolio of liability litigation claims, setting case strategies, working with expert witnesses, and controlling costs. Reporting to the Claims Litigation Manager, the role involves delivering team objectives, maintaining strong relationships with clients and legal professionals, and ensuring compliance with IPB's claims handling policies.

Fitness & Probity and Conduct Standards

IPB Insurance is a financial institution regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. As such, this role is regulated and subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards as set out by the Central Bank. These standards require that individuals performing Controlled Functions (CFs) are competent, capable, honest, ethical, and act with integrity. In addition, the role is subject to the Conduct Standards introduced under the Central Bank (Individual Accountability Framework) Act 2023, which apply throughout the course of employment. Accordingly, this role will be subject to enhanced pre-employment screening procedures, and there will be an ongoing requirement for the role holder to maintain both fit and proper status and adherence to the Conduct Standards throughout their employment.
