Working Model: Hybrid (two days in the office, three days working remotely in Ireland each week; additional in‑office days may be required based on business demands)

About the Role
The Claims Handler joins a highly regarded insurance organisation to manage a varied portfolio of property and mixed claims in a collaborative pre‑litigation environment. The role supports cost‑effective, customer‑focused and compliant outcomes, working closely with loss adjusters, brokers, members, and internal stakeholders and contributing to fraud prevention, continuous improvement and broader claims objectives.
IPB Insurance is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. This role is subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards and the Conduct Standards set out by the Central Bank, requiring ongoing pre‑employment screening and maintenance of fit‑and‑proper status.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an allocated mixed portfolio of property and other pre‑litigation claims through to resolution.
- Apply clear claims strategies, review policy coverage and set/monitor reserves in line with IPB guidelines.
- Proactively review files to ensure timely and cost‑effective outcomes for clients.
- Work closely with loss adjusters, brokers, customers and experts to progress investigations and gather key information.
- Identify and pursue appropriate settlement opportunities throughout the claim lifecycle.
- Participate in or lead negotiations, arbitrations and recovery actions to achieve resolution.
- Use telephone and direct engagement to support settlement outcomes where appropriate.
- Collaborate with senior claims handlers, underwriting and MCR to ensure consistency of strategy and a customer‑focused approach.
- Identify emerging claims trends and share insights to support effective portfolio management.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, governance and IPB quality standards.
- Contribute to fraud prevention initiatives, team targets and continuous improvement activities.
What We’re Looking For
- MCC qualified (CIP minimum) with a relevant professional and/or third‑level qualification.
- Strong claims handling experience within the General Insurance sector, ideally with property claims and exposure to PL, EL and Motor.
- Proven pre‑litigation experience with strategy setting, negotiation and settlement skills.
- Sound technical knowledge of insurance policy coverage and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication, organisation and prioritisation skills with good commercial judgement.
- Customer‑focused, adaptable and capable of performing effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
