Job summary

An Irish owned engineering consultancy is recruiting a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing infrastructure team in Ireland. The role focuses on the design and delivery of roads and infrastructure, with strong emphasis on standards, guidance documents, and stakeholder engagement.

Reporting to the Director, you will mentor junior staff, manage projects through planning to construction, liaise with authorities and clients, and ensure quality deliverables.

Qualifications

• Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience: 5–10 years, including at least 2 years in Ireland in a consultancy environment.
• Planning, detailed design, tender and construction stage experience.
• Strong knowledge of roads, drainage, watermains, earthworks, and public realm infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Public Works Contracts and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee delivery of roads and infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate planning, detailed design, tender, and construction phases.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Engage with Local Authorities, statutory bodies, clients and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with national/local standards and guidance documents.

Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will demonstrate

• Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland or equivalent) or Near
• Proven experience in the design and delivery of roads and infrastructure project
• Strong technical knowledge of roads, drainage, watermains, earthworks, and public realm infrastructure
• Experience liaising with Local Authorities, statutory bodies, clients, and contractors
• Excellent understanding of design principles set out in national / local authority standards and technical guidance documents such as GDSDS, IW CoP, DMURS, Cycle Design Manual, DMRB, and TII Publications
• Experience managing projects through planning, detailed design, tender, and construction stage
• Proficiency in civil engineering design software and preparation of technical reports, drawings, and specification
• Strong project, client, and stakeholder management skill
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineer
• Familiarity with Public Works Contracts and contract administration
• Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
• Experience carrying out site inspections and responding to construction-stage queries and technical issue

Desired Qualifications & Requirement

• Candidates should have 5–10 years of experience, including a minimum of 2 years working in Ireland in a consultancy environment
• Working towards Chartered status with Engineers Ireland (or equivalent)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
• Proven ability to mentor junior staff
• Strong organisational and time management skill
