Job summary

Kenton Black are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a leading engineering and construction business delivering major projects across Ireland and expanding international portfolio. This role offers technical leadership on large-scale projects from early stages to completion.

You will travel across Ireland to project sites, liaising with project managers, site teams, consultants and clients while ensuring safety, quality and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline is required.
• Proven experience as a Civil/Senior Civil Engineer on major construction projects.
• Experience in data centres, mission-critical or technically complex environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior engineering support throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Manage and coordinate civil engineering works on large-scale construction projects.
• Review drawings, specs and technical documentation to ensure compliance.
• Lead on-site coordination with subcontractors and consultants to deliver safely and to schedule.
• Mentor junior engineers and liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure clear communication.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a leading engineering and construction business delivering major projects across Ireland and an expanding international portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Civil Engineer to take a senior role within project delivery, working on large-scale and complex construction projects from early stages through to completion.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, subcontractors, consultants and client teams, providing technical leadership and ensuring civil works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

As projects are located across Ireland, the ability to travel and work on different project sites is essential, with international travel also potentially required as the business continues to expand its European and international operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior engineering support throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Manage and coordinate civil engineering works on large-scale construction projects.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Ensure civil works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, programmes and quality standards.
• Coordinate with design teams, consultants, subcontractors and other project disciplines.
• Manage and resolve technical issues on site, providing practical and cost-effective solutions.
• Carry out inspections and ensure works are progressing in line with project requirements.
• Monitor construction progress and provide technical input into project programmes.
• Assist with setting out, surveying and the technical coordination of civil works where required.
• Review subcontractor works, technical submissions, method statements and inspection documentation.
• Ensure all works comply with relevant health & safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Support the Project Manager with technical reporting, progress updates and project documentation.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and members of the site team.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
• Identify potential issues early and work collaboratively with the wider project team to resolve them.

The Ideal Candidate

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience working as a Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer on major construction projects.
• Proven experience working on large-scale civil or structural construction projects.
• Experience within data centres, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing or other technically complex environments would be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, engineering principles and site delivery.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors, consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently while operating effectively within a wider project team.
• Full flexibility to travel and work across projects throughout Ireland is essential.
• Willingness and ability to undertake international travel when required.
