Excel Recruitment is assisting a busy Cardiology Department in Mullingar to recruit a Senior Cardiac Physiologist for a 1-year maternity leave contract. The role is full-time (35 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with an immediate start.

You will deliver a high-quality, patient-centred non-invasive cardiac diagnostics service, focusing on echocardiography, device follow-up and rhythm monitoring, with investigations performed and reported per department protocols.

Competenze

• Minimum of 3 years' full-time experience in cardiac physiology.
• Ability to perform, interpret and report echocardiograms independently.
• Competent in pacemaker checks and reporting.
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
• BSc or MSc in Clinical Measurement Physiology; MPPM certificate.

Mansioni

• Independently perform, interpret and report transthoracic echocardiography (TTE).
• Perform and report resting 12-lead ECGs.
• Perform exercise stress testing / treadmill testing.
• Fit, analyse and report ambulatory ECG (Holter) monitoring.

Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with a busy Cardiology Department in a Hospital in Mullingar to recruit a Senior Cardiac Physiologist, for a 1 year maternity leave contract, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with an immediate start.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Cardiac Physiologist to join the Cardiac Investigations team. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role, covering a 1-year maternity leave, and we are keen to hear from candidates who can start immediately.

The department is entirely non-invasive, and the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, patient-centred non-invasive cardiac diagnostics service, with a strong emphasis on echocardiography, device follow-up and cardiac rhythm monitoring. All investigations are performed and reported in line with agreed departmental protocols.

Key Clinical Responsibilities

• Independently performing, interpreting and reporting transthoracic echocardiography (TTE)
• Performing and reporting resting 12-lead ECGs
• Performing exercise stress / treadmill testing (medical and physiologist-led)
• Fitting, analysing and reporting ambulatory ECG (Holter) monitoring
• Fitting, analysing and reporting ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM)
• Cardiac event recorder and external loop recorder monitoring and analysis
• Implantable loop recorder (ILR) follow-up and remote device monitoring
• Reporting and clearly highlighting abnormal and urgent findings to the medical team
• Vetting and prioritising referrals for non-invasive cardiology diagnostic tests
• Demonstrating flexibility to facilitate urgent and unscheduled cases when required.
• Provide strategic and clinical leadership to support an effective, efficient, quality-assured and patient-centred Cardiac Investigation Service.
• Act as a Clinical Advisor to Cardiac Physiologist colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensure professional standards are maintained in accordance with IICMS requirements
• Contribute to service planning, waiting list management and service development initiatives.
• Participate actively in clinical audit, quality improvement and performance management.
• Support the Chief II Cardiac Physiologist in ongoing service development and improvement initiatives.
• BSc or MSc in Clinical Measurement Physiology
• An equivalent Level 8 scientific qualification recognised by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS) (Recognition of Qualification)
• Hold the Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) (or equivalent recognised qualification for those qualified pre-2005)
• All candidates must have a minimum of 3 years full-time (or an aggregate of 3 years full-time) relevant experience
• Must be competent to perform, interpret and report Echoes independently and perform pacemaker checks and report.
