Job summary

Harper Finley Professional Recruitment is partnering with an established Irish civil engineering and infrastructure business to appoint a Senior Bid Manager in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

The role leads tenders end-to-end, coordinating with commercial, technical and operational teams to deliver competitive submissions. Reporting to the Contract Director, you will drive bid strategy, pricing, risk reviews and continuous process improvement while expanding the bid function and staying abreast of market

Qualifications

• Significant experience in bid management, estimating or tendering within civil engineering/infrastructure.
• Experience working on public sector infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of water and wastewater projects or related infrastructure is advantageous.
• Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and submission of major tenders from initial review to final submission.
• Assess new opportunities and support bid/no-bid decisions.

• Develop clear, compelling and commercially competitive tender submissions.

Senior Bid Manager

Location: Castlebar, Co. Mayo

Salary: €80,000 - €110,000 DOE

Reporting To: Contract Director

We are working with an established and growing Irish civil engineering and infrastructure business on a Senior Bid Manager position in Castlebar. It's a really important hire for them, reporting directly to the Contract Director, and they're looking for someone who can take real ownership of the tendering function as the business continues to grow. Day to day, you'd be leading tenders from start to finish and working closely with the commercial, technical and operational teams to put together strong, competitive submissions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of major tenders from initial review through to final submission.
• Assess new opportunities and support decisions around bid/no-bid strategy.
• Coordinate input from commercial, engineering, estimating and operational teams.
• Develop clear, compelling and commercially competitive tender submissions.
• Review contract documentation, specifications, pricing information and client requirements.
• Manage tender programmes, ensuring submissions are delivered accurately and within deadlines.
• Engage with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders throughout the tender process.
• Contribute to pricing, commercial reviews, risk assessments and value engineering discussions.
• Ensure tender submissions comply with public procurement requirements.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of bid processes, systems and templates.
• Help build and develop the existing bid team as the function expands.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the infrastructure and water/wastewater market.

Requirements

• Significant experience in bid management, estimating, pre-construction or tendering within civil engineering/infrastructure.
• Experience working on public sector infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of water and wastewater projects, utilities or related infrastructure.
• Experience managing complex tenders from opportunity stage through to submission.
• Previous experience working across the Irish and/or UK infrastructure markets.
• The ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage competing deadlines.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous experience leading, mentoring or developing a team would be highly advantageous.
