Job summary

Mimica is seeking an experienced backend engineer to scale the MERN stack powering our AI-powered task mining platform. You will design scalable architecture, implement backend services and APIs, and optimize performance and reliability while taking operational ownership of what you build.

As part of an early engineering team, you will influence technical direction, collaborate across teams, and contribute to hiring.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• Experience designing APIs and database systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems and microservices.
• Fluent English and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architectural decisions and collaborate across teams to identify and implement product improvements.
• Develop and optimize a real-time backend service that enables multiple users to edit graph data and re-train AI models through their input.
• Create libraries and build APIs in our Node.js backend to interact with ML components.
• Diagnose fault-tolerance and availability issues, performance bottlenecks, and resolve them.
• Refactor components and services and produce documentation for implementations.
• Provide feedback through pair programming and code reviews and help peers level up.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding new team members; take on end-to-end project management responsibilities as we grow.
