Job summary

Aave Labs is hiring a Principal Backend Engineer to lead the engineering team behind Push, a regulated, non-custodial on-ramp and off-ramp. You will direct the technical strategy, architect critical systems, and ensure security, auditability, and resilience as customer funds are managed across banking integrations and on-chain processes.

You will stay hands-on in complex architecture while guiding a team through high-impact delivery, complying with regulatory requirements and product goals.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend engineering experience and senior technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction and architecture for Push across backend services and onchain settlement.
• Translate product, regulatory, and operational requirements into an engineering roadmap and clear projects.
• Design and build resilient services for on-ramp/off-ramp lifecycles including payment initiation and settlement.
• Lead integrations with open-banking, payments, identity, compliance, and blockchain infra providers.
• Define secure boundaries between fiat systems, non-custodial wallets, and onchain execution.
• Set standards for secure development, architecture review, testing, observability, and on-call ownership.
• Remain hands-on in the codebase for complex architecture and critical production issues.
