Senior Automation Engineer - Advanced Manufacturing

Dublin - Onsite

Salary 70-75k

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join a leading global organisation operating within the electronics and advanced manufacturing sector.

This is a senior, hands-on engineering role within a large-scale, highly automated manufacturing environment, with responsibility for the design, implementation, commissioning and continuous improvement of automated production equipment and manufacturing lines.

The successful candidate will take technical ownership of automation projects from concept and equipment specification through FAT/SAT, commissioning, validation and production ramp, while also providing technical leadership across complex automation and equipment issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, specification, installation, commissioning and validation of automated manufacturing equipment and production lines.
• Take ownership of automation projects from initial concept through to successful production handover.
• Lead equipment FAT/SAT, commissioning, qualification and production ramp-up activities.
• Provide technical expertise across PLC/controls, robotics, machine vision, servo/motion control, sensors and automated assembly systems.
• Lead complex equipment troubleshooting and structured root-cause analysis.
• Drive improvements across OEE, cycle time, throughput, yield, downtime and equipment reliability.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing scale-up.
• Work closely with external equipment vendors, machine builders and system integrators.
• Lead process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as PFMEA, DFMEA, DOE and Lean/Six Sigma.
• Manage automation projects including timelines, technical deliverables, contractors and capital budgets.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and Operations teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians.
• Develop and maintain automation engineering standards and best practices.

Experience Required

• Degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Ideally 7+ years' experience within automation, controls or equipment engineering.
• Strong experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment, ideally electronics, semiconductor, medical device, automotive or another highly automated manufacturing sector.
• Strong knowledge of PLC/controls systems such as Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff or similar.
• Experience with robotics, machine vision, servo/motion control and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Demonstrable experience delivering automation/equipment projects through design, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and production ramp-up.
• Strong systematic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capability.
• Experience working with external automation vendors, machine builders or system integrators.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing performance metrics including OEE, cycle time, yield and equipment reliability.
• Previous technical leadership, mentoring or project leadership experience is highly desirable.
