Job summary

ORS is seeking a Senior Archaeological & Cultural Heritage Consultant to join our Irish team. You will work across a diverse portfolio, contributing to planning, EIAR, and infrastructure projects with an emphasis on practical heritage solutions.

You will lead assessments, liaise with authorities, and oversee subcontractors while delivering high-quality outputs and supporting business growth. A strong background in archaeology and planning is essential.

Qualifications

• Essential: BA/BSc in Archaeology and robust knowledge of archaeology/heritage
• Essential: 2+ years senior archaeological consultancy experience in UK or Ireland
• Essential: strong writing and communication skills; ability to work solo or in teams
• Essential: knowledge of planning systems relating to archaeology and heritage
• Essential: proficiency in Word and Excel; GIS/mapmaking software (QGIS, ArcGIS)
• Essential: ability to reliably commute to fieldwork locations

Responsibilities

• Prepare archaeological assessments as part of planning applications; screen/scope EIAR reports and EIAR chapters
• Compile impact assessments and devise mitigation for heritage resources
• Undertake field inspections to identify sites
• Liaise with statutory/non-statutory authorities, design teams, and clients
• Manage sub-contractors for additional surveys as part of consultancy
• Provide expert witness services for archaeology at Oral Hearings and respond to submissions
