Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Archaeologist to lead the delivery of archaeological assessments and licences across Ireland. You will work with multidisciplinary teams, manage fieldwork, monitoring, and post-excavation activities, and provide expert advice to clients and statutory bodies.

Based in any Stantec office in Ireland with hybrid work, you will develop conservation and technical reports, engage stakeholders, and help drive sustainable outcomes for projects across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• A degree in Archaeology (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent).
• A minimum of 10 years' post-graduate experience in archaeological assessment.
• Appropriate archaeological licensing in Ireland and experience with licences and consents.
• Proven experience in the preparation and management of licences and consents.
• Experience undertaking archaeological impact assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
• Experience planning and managing excavation and investigation activities.
• Experience in archaeological monitoring of works with contractors and teams.
• Experience engaging with statutory bodies, stakeholders and consultees.
• Experience coordinating post-excavation specialists and requirements.
• Experience preparing conservation and technical reports and final archaeological reports.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex matters clearly.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of a wide range of projects across Ireland, providing specialist archaeological advice.
• Manage licensing from initial assessment through fieldwork, monitoring and post-excavation activities.
• Prepare technical, conservation and final archaeological reports.
• Engage with clients, contractors, statutory bodies and stakeholders.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams and ensure timely delivery.
