Job summary

Henry Schein in Dublin, Ireland, seeks an experienced Senior API Engineer to lead the design, development and optimization of our API ecosystem. You will report to the Lead API Engineer and collaborate across product, engineering and DevOps to deliver scalable, secure integrations.

The role focuses on RESTful and GraphQL APIs, microservices, cloud deployments with Docker and Kubernetes, and data integration with Databricks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of API development experience with REST and GraphQL.
• Proficient in Python, Java, Node.js, or Go.
• Strong microservices and event-driven design knowledge.
• Experience with API management platforms (Mulesoft, Apigee, etc.).
• Experience with cloud providers and containerization.
• Security expertise (OAuth2, JWT, API keys).
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop APIs and microservices for scalability.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and DevOps on guidelines.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and encryption standards.
• Optimize performance with caching and monitoring tools.
• Lead code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Deploy via AWS/GCP/Azure with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Integrate APIs with Databricks and data pipelines.
• Document APIs and ensure reliability.
• Stay current with serverless and security trends.
